πͺ v5.4 β The Menu Update
This is the biggest change to how you handle your stuff since Survival first arrived. Everything you carry, wear, and craft now lives in tidy draggable windows you can open, arrange, and stack β just like a proper role-playing game. Here's the whole tour.
πͺ Windows you can open, drag & stack
- Press a key, get a window. Each system has its own hotkey β I Inventory, C Character, M the menu dock. The window pops up right in the world; the game keeps running behind it.
- Open several at once. Want your Inventory and Character side by side while you gear up? Open both β they float independently, so you can compare and drag between them.
- Drag by the title bar. Grab the strip across the top of any window and slide it wherever you like. Tuck it into a corner, line them up, whatever suits you.
- Close with β or Esc. Tap the β in the window's corner, or press Esc to close the top-most window and step back one layer at a time.
The classic single-screen pack still works too β see below. Nothing was taken away, just given more room to breathe.
π Inventory β grab & place
The new inventory works by picking things up and dropping them where you want them β no fiddly menus.
- Tap / click an item to pick it up. It rides your cursor.
- Click a gear slot to equip it (helmet into Head, sword into Main-Handβ¦), or click an action-bar slot 1β9 to assign it there.
- Double-click an item to auto-place it in the best open spot β the game figures out where it belongs.
- Your action bar is the heart of it: whatever sits in the active slot is what you place or use in the world. Load it with your go-to blocks, tools, and food.
π§ Character β a doll you dress
Open the Character window and meet your own 3D figure, turning slowly, wearing exactly what you've got on. Around it sit 6 equipment slots:
- Head Β· Body Β· Legs Β· Feet β your four armor pieces.
- Main-Hand β your weapon or tool. NEW Your equipped Main-Hand now decides your attack damage. A stone sword hits harder than your fist; an Emberforged blade harder still. What you hold matters.
- Off-Hand β a shield, torch, or second item.
Two-handed weapons β like the bow β need both hands, so equipping one locks the Off-Hand until you switch back. The doll updates instantly so you can always see what you're wearing.
π¨ Crafting β pick your workshop
Crafting is now organized into workshops, so you're never scrolling past recipes you can't use. Choose the bench that fits the job:
- π¨ Building Β· Tools Β· Weapons Β· Armor β all made at a Workbench.
- π₯ Hearth β for smelting ore into metal.
- βοΈ Alchemy β brew elixirs at a Brewing Stand.
- π· Runework β enchant at a Rune Table.
- Walk up to a station and crafting jumps straight to that workshop β stand at your Hearth and it opens on smelting, no hunting.
- Search any recipe by name, and flip on "only what I can make now" to hide everything you're short on.
- Recipes you can't reach are locked with a friendly hint β it tells you which station to stand near, so you always know the next step.
